Spring Handprint Butterflies

Hello friends!  I trust you all had a Happy Easter filled with lots of love.  My weekend was wonderful…full of family time, traditions and a bit too much candy.  Why do I buy the kinds I like?!
Today, I would like to share with you a fun butterfly craft I previously shared over at The Taylor House.

We LOVE to craft at our house and we especially LOVE to paint!  The messier, the better…right!?  I try really hard to document the little things like handprints while the boys are young and still let me do it. 🙂
This is a fun kids craft that uses items you probably have on hand. Yay!
Here’s what you’ll need:
toilet paper tubes
paint
paint brushes
plain paper
patterned paper
embellishments like googly eyes and pipe cleaners
And on to our butterflies…
Start by painting the toilet paper tube.

While it dries, paint and stamp your little one’s hands.  I painted 4 handprints per butterfly, but you could certainly do 2.  Either way will turn out super cute!

Cut out handprints and adhere to a sheet of patterned paper.  I laid the tube on the paper and placed the handprints where I wanted them.

Cut around wings leaving a bit of pattern showing.  Then lay painted tube on middle of wings and staple together.  Embellish your butterfly with eyes, antennae and any other details you come up with!  The googly eyes were self-adhesive and I taped the antennae to the inside of the tube.

They fit right into the boys Art Buffet, which we are still LOVING!!  I’ll be sharing a genius idea for the bottom drawer soon.
Have fun crafting and creating with your kiddos!

  2. Those are so adorable. My little girls love painting with their hands and they use a lot of toilet paper so I have a lot of paper rolls to use. lol. This is the perfect project for us!
