An Organized Office Space…

If you read my previous blog post, you may recall that one of my goals for 2013 is to come to terms with our Home Office space.  Let me just start by saying that I am not naturally drawn to the Office in our home…never have been, probably never will.  I don’t enjoy paperwork {unless it involves crafting}, don’t enjoy paying bills {unless it involves a recent shopping trip to Kohl’s}, and have the ability to look past these until the absolute last minute…

In the case of our Office, I may have looked past the heaps of papers and stuff mounting for as long as we have lived in our home…Uh-hum…just over a year.

Somehow it was never a priority until I saw the New Year’s Organizing Revolution over at abowlfulloflemons.  The 1st week happened to be the Office, so I accepted the Challenge!

Don’t faint {or judge} when you see the before pictures!

Here is the room before.  It is in the corner of our basement and has no windows, therefore no natural light and is BORING!

It has been the room where all the miscellaneous stuff is dumped for far too long.  The idea of cleaning out and going through all the paperwork was daunting!  It took me days to sort through everything…Good thing I had great helpers.  See corner of photo:) I have lots of fantastic ideas for the space, but I needed to get it done NOW and on a minimal budget.

And here is the organized desk space…Yeah!  We made the desk {years ago} with an old door and two filing cabinets we had built to fit the door.  The glass was cut to fit the top.

An organized desktop…Check out these cute little buckets I found in the Target dollarspot.  They came with the chalkboard labels, I just wrote on them with a chalk marker. I have plans for these little buckets too…Stay tuned!

These enamelware containers work perfectly for extra storage.

Here is a close up of how I organized my paper and labels drawer.

I labeled all the personal files too, although one day I would like to color code them.

This little table houses the printer and the supplies I use more frequently.  Painting the table a color is in my future plans.

This fun vintage cart was snagged from my craft room next door.  It works great as extra storage.  Plus it adds some COLOR!

I placed art on the floor to decide how I wanted to arrange the wall above the desk.   My plans were shattered as soon as I asked Mr. Kriegerchick to help with the hanging.  For some reason, he does not want that many holes in the wall…So he came up with a different idea featuring some AWESOME shelves.  Don’t worry…I’ll share soon!  To see what we came up with…Click HERE!

Well, there you have it…Our Organized Home Office!  Honestly I am amazed I was able to get this much done in just 3 days.  I will be even more excited when we finish the wall above the desk and a couple other finishing touches.

3 days down, 362 to go…What have you accomplished this year?

See you soon!

  1. Nice Job. Enjoy your newly organized desk space!

  2. Looks great A! I don’t feel so bad about my office, which is on the list AFTER I get my storage room organized. Hopefully this month! PS I am voting for ya!

  3. Love the Before picture, your helper, and the vintage items you used in your organization! Your before and after are very inspirational to me as I have a big job ahead of me and was feeling discouraged. Thank you for letting me know that it can be done, and done beautifully!

  4. Your hubby sounds like mine! Shelves will give you more storage….one thing that looks like it is missing from your file drawers are some cool knobs…not sure how you get those open!!!
